Alex Weatherhead writes from the Port Seton build:
“With the sad loss of elm trees due to Dutch elm disease throughout Britain the salvaged wood from the felled elms were allowed to be retained in the area they were felled and the Wemyss Estate retained some of the timber for their own use. Martin and I agree that it very satisfying that some of this wood, that would have disappeared in smoke, has now found a very much appreciated use locally for our current community project.
Regarding progress – We finished planking today! Archie provided a very acceptable malt whisky dram for all those present. I assume that the Ullapool team were denied there dram as they were expecting Whiskey and their project sponsor may not yet have retuned from Ireland.”
