Regatta Season is Upon Us!

All that hardish training and endless conversations about the best way to start and turn will have  to come to an end soon, as we start the second St Ayles skiff racing season.

The first event is at Dunbar on Saturday 14 May.  It starts with a coxes briefing at 0915, which coxswains must attend.

It is proposed that the following races will be held.

10.00   Open  Men                  10.30  Open   Women

11.00   Under 25 Men             11.30   Under 25  Women

12.00   Over 50 Men               12.30  Over 50 Women

13.00   Open Mixed                13.30  Over 50  Mixed

14.00   Under 25 Mixed

The course will be approximately 1km. (Just over if good sea conditions and just under if rough seas) The course will involve both a buoy and the Scart Rock.

The exhausted crews will be given sustenance at a   BBQ in Dunbar Sailing Club yard from 3pm.

The best place to view the action will be from the sea-ward side of the Swimming pool or the Glebe. The Umpire will be based on the Glebe so that he can view along the transit of the start and finish line. However participants should allow themselves plenty time to walk around to the north side of the harbour for crew changing. While those waiting for crew change can view the race from the harbour entrance it is not suitable for large numbers and the view will be poor. It therefore should be avoided by supporters.
