Introducing the Aylesophone

The first US regatta at Mystic Seaport saw the launch of Sephira, built by Michael Brolly and his students at Moravian Academy in Bethlehem Pennsylvania.

Michael is a very imaginative and practical guy, who decided that his St Ayles should have a musical theme.  If you saw the pictures back in July, you may not have believed it, but here is the result – fully stringed, and making music.

Michael is seriously wanting to bring Sephira to the Skiffy Worlds next year, and is applying for grants for the pleasure.  He wrote to me

“I will be applying for a grant so if you think of anything cultural that we can do while we are there it would help greatly with the grant writing process.”

So, if you can provide any good suggestions as to where in Scotland (or England) that Michael can take Sephira, please make your suggestions below.

Maybe get something going with the “Singing clubs” in the Lothians. A combined musical tour while they are here.
If Sephira is being shipped over and comes into the UK at Greenock Ocean Terminal, Royal West are only 1.5 miles from the gates and could potentially assist with logistics. Let us know at secretary@rwsabc.com

Surely that is an Aylsichord rather than an Aylsephone?? Not that I am an expert in music.
