Troon’s second skiff, Ailsa Lass, will be named and launched on Sunday 28th October 2012, in a ceremony beginning at 2.00pm. This event will be held at the North end of Troon Marina, at the slipway and in or by the boat shed.
This is an official Invitation, courtesy of the SCRA website, to all other Coastal Rowing Clubs and to Officers of the SCRA to attend and participate in our celebrations on the day. As we are planning an open function, publicised locally, no specific reply is required. However, if any Club close to Troon felt like bringing a skiff to the event, we would be happy to hear in advance and see what we can do to help. Contact Harry Risk, firstname.lastname@example.org
The naming and launching will be carried out by one of our Honorary Club members, Alex Mackenzie, who is a co-founder of Row2Recovery (www.Row2Recovery.com). Alex was part of a team of six ex-soldiers, four of whom were injured in action, who rowed the Atlantic at the turn of this year (2011/12) and raised nearly £1million for forces charities. Light refreshments will be available.
TCRC acknowledges the kind support of Troon Marina management, West Coast Marine and South Ayrshire Council for all Club activities.
