St Ayles skiff building has come to Norfolk on England’s East Coast. The Coastal Rowing Association – Blakeney has been formed to co-ordinate the build. The first skiff is being built in Thurning, Melton Constable and will be rowed from the nearby town of Blakeney. Early volunteers are shown here setting up the moulds.
Dr Victoria Holliday and Ian Duffill sponsored the initial work to get the build started as founding sponsors. Ian would love to hear from others interested in encouraging coastal rowing in North Norfolk and building the St Ayles skiff. He can be contacted on 01263 862496. Encouragingly the team are keen to be on the water in time to take part at the St Ayles skiff world championships in Ullapool in July 2013. We look forward to welcoming them onto the water, and to racing St Ayles skiffs in Norfolk.
