Burghead Skiff Named “Tarbh Uisge”

Burhead had their launch on 1 November, just over 5 years after the launch of the first St Ayles skiff (Chris o’ Kanaird).  The Burghead skiff was named  ‘Tarbh Uisge’ (gaelic for water bull).  Her launch was attended by skiffies from all over, and in particular by skiffs from Portsoy, Boatie Blest (who made the journey from the South side of the Firth of Forth to welcome this latest skiff), Avoch and Ardersier.  Congratulations to all at Burghead, and we look forward to seeing you on the water.

Thanks to Chris Perkins of Ullpool  for these pictures.  Chris was at the launch of the first ever St Ayles at Anstruther and comments ” They all seemed to be having a great time despite (or perhaps because of) a nasty North sea chop that caused a deal of daylight to show under the bows once past the harbour walls. I recall something similar at Anster – full awareness of just how good  these boats are in bouncy stuff was unknown back then – how things have moved on!”

More photos of the launch are on the Burghead Coastal Rowing Club Facebook Page, and on the SCR Flickr page.
