I have twice typed a message and then go an error message saying "forum not set". I am finding this forum difficult to use and judging by the lack of posts, so are others.

Alec,

I've made a couple of tweaks along the lines you suggested.

First, the front page of the site is (as it was) the About Page. The posts you make appear on the (now published) News page you created.

Second, the theme colour settings for the tagline, the page tabs and the sidebar links have been changed to RGB codes in the Admin | Appearance | Fusion settings page, towards the bottom, in the "user CSS code" box.

This is a really good theme for easy customisations like this - updates don't break your modifications, once you've handled a bit of CSS.

Hopefully there's enough there to let you fiddle a bit if you like - let me know if there's anything else you need me to look at.

I'm going to stick with this forum software for now, because it natively provides image upload capability. I've limited the image size to 600KB for now, because larger than this causes problems at the server end – but it's ample for the web, for example, 400KB looks like this… (and I've had to edit the size to half - 800x600)

There are a lot of themes available for WP. I'm sure we can site down sometime and pick out a nice one: there's no need to write your own for a non-commercial site. I only have a few installed on the site but it's easy to pick up more. As you can see, I like the simpler ones

The usage limit can be increased if need be: if this is going to end up outside of your own direct interest area then I'd need to place some kind of limit but I wouldn't be worrying about it below say, 250MB. That's a lot of images and pdfs.

I have to say, I'm liking this forum software and this theme suits it better because of the width of the page.

Hi Nick

This is good - I think I need to get to know it a bit better, but looks like it will fit the bill. I have as you see changed the theme - are there more available, and can the theme be modified, as it still looks a bit bland?

Somewhere I think I saw that there is a 10MB(?) usage limit? Can that be increased as there will be a lot of photos and some big PDFs going up here before too long.

Hello, Alec! What do you think of this for a forum? I think it'll meet your needs - and this version is brand new: it was installed here within 12 hours of release.

Now, that's what I call service.

To enable it to work, users must be able to register on the blog site. I've enabled this.
