The Scottish Coastal Rowing Association

RowAround Scotland 2021

With the Scottish Government’s indicative start of outdoor contact sports being given as 17 May, sections 1-4 (Gretna to Ardnamurchan) of the RowAround Scotland have been put on the back burner, for now. SCRA is planning to begin the circumnavigation at section 5, starting on 17 May.

Some sections will not take place, such as the North Coast from Kinlochbervie to Orkney, and other legs may well be adapted/reduced in scope, dependant on Covid regulations in force over the summer. The section pilots will be contacting clubs with revised plans, both for rowing and any events planned, over the next wee while.

We do hope that you will be able to join in with us on this reimagined, collaborative expedition voyage. In any event, clubs will be given the opportunity to sample for microplastics in their home waters, to inform our very own citizen science study.

In the meantime, pop over to the RowAround website, www.rowaround.scot, and see if you can spot yourself and your pals on the Wall of Fame, Who We Are, aka Where’s Wally? Be warned, the mugshots shoogle around in a random manner …

And if you have not yet sent in your own photofit, there is still time: rowaroundscotland@gmail.com

There will also be a photo competition for scenic shots of a skiff – with the best from each section of RowAround selected for the inaugural 2022 SCRA calendar. #YCW21
