The sun made a rare appearance to make Saturday’s skiff regatta at Colintraive a very successful day for all concerned. Five skiffs joined the Colintraive-Glendaruel Boat Club skiff, arriving by sea from Rothesay and Tighnabruich and by road from Strachur. The sun, blue skies and light wind from the east made for perfect rowing conditions.
Four well contested races exercised all the rowers. Col-Glen Boat Club won three including two very close finishes with Isle of Bute Seasport Club coming second within a boat’s length. The Isle of Bute Seasport Club won the men’s race. In addition, Col-Glen Boat Club retained the Kyles Skiff Trophy against Kyles Coastal Rowing Club last contested at Tighnabruich in 2016.
The hosts provided an excellent barbecue with salads and cakes which made for a delicious beach picnic enjoyed by all. Everyone attending reckoned the inaugural Colintraive regatta a success and
they are looking forward to a repeat in 2025.
