The SCRA are planning weekends of coxswain training in regions across Scotland. The courses are best run with a mix of people from different clubs with aspects such as the role of the cox, safety, communication, commands, launching, weather, tides, VHF and rules of racing, all areas which have previously been covered. The course is adapted to the needs of those on it, with the pace adjusted so that as much information is covered as possible, in the time available. Courses typically run with between 12 and 18 people with 2 to 3 trainers and include on the water and indoor sessions. Clubs with specific needs – for example surf launching, can ask for these to be included and the trainers will do their best to assist. Clubs wishing to register an interest please email: Coaching@Scottishcoastalrowing.org
