The Scottish Coastal Rowing Association

COCKENZIE & PORT SETON CRC REGATTA – 6/5/23

Saturday 6th May saw the Cockenzie and Port Seton Coastal Rowing Club (‘Boatie Blest ‘ Regatta. Tide times had forced the date to be shared with the Coronation, but
nevertheless 10 clubs took part: Boatie Blest, Broughty Ferry, Dunbar, Eastern, Eskmuthe, Newhaven, North Berwick, Row Porty, Royal West and Troon.
All races were our traditional 350m head to head sprints around two buoys, on in each basin of our double harbour with the two fastest times going in the final. The
weather was calm and some afternoon light rain and distant thunder did not affect the enthusiasm of seeing good tight sprint racing right in front of the clubs’
marquees.   In addition to the racing and chat, our cooks and bakers excelled themselves and the catering tent did a roaring trade all day.

The day started with the traditional Cockenzie versus Port Seton race, followed by 7 more categories of racing. Results were as follows:
Cockenzie v Port Seton: Port Seton:
Women’s 50+ 1. Troon 2. Broughty
Mixed Open A; 1. Boatie Blest; 2. North Berwick
Mixed 50+: 1. Eastern 2 Eskmuthe (by 0.45 seconds!)
Men’s Open B: 1 North Berwick; 2 Eastern
Women’s 40+: 1 North Berwick 2 Eastern
Mens Open: 1. North Berwick 2 Boatie Blest
Womens Open : 1. Boatie Blest 2 North Berwick

It was great to see all the clubs together and some good, competitive racing!
