Last Saturday, 25th July, nine Scottish community rowing clubs gathered at the Golspie Seafront Centre for the annual Golspie Regatta. While the atmosphere onshore was warm and welcoming, the conditions out on the water proved to be testing at times. With wind gusts reaching up to 46 mph across the nine-lane course, race organisers made the call to shorten the standard 2 km distance to a 1 km sprint around the 500m turning buoys. The challenging weather set the stage for a day of dramatic, hard-fought racing, highlighting the skill and determination of every crew present.

After a full day of competitive racing, host team Golspie Rowing Club emerged as overall regatta winners, lifting the Campbell Port Trophy. Regatta organisers praised the impressive effort shown by all rowers and thanked every participating club for their spirit and camaraderie.

The vibrant display of traditional skiffs drew an appreciative crowd of local spectators along the seafront throughout the day, adding to a fantastic showcase for coastal rowing.
