Preparing for rowing

As most of us are looking forward to getting back on the water as of Monday 17th May, you may want to consider checking everything with the skiff is in order. We don’t want anyone to turn up at the boat with a crew desperate to get out only to find that the VHF hasn’t been charged or that there is a flat tyre on the trailer. We suggest that this weekend is the ideal time to make a checklist of all the items you will need and to ensure that they are fully functional.

Each clubs location and operations are different so there may be some variations but there a some key pieces of equipment that you may want to add to your checklist:

Lifejackets
VHF charged
Anchor tow rope
Trailers – winch, wheels etc
Bung (check that safe place we all have)

The RNLI have put together a really good video which demonstrates how to check you lifejacket (manual and automatic) and we highly recommend viewing and checking yours before heading out in a skiff https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kEf5cOe5Zg
