Lossiemouth row Loch Morlich

After a preliminary visit to Loch Morlich, we found that the best and easiest skiff launch points were located within the Loch Morlich Sailing Club.
So we made contact with the Sailing Club asking them about a possible trip and arranged for their Commodore to meet us on arrival to let us in through their gate.

Our intention was to launch from the Sailing Club but base ourselves on the beach. However, on the day, the windy conditions meant that this was not feasible  and so ruled that out however the Sailing Club were great and were happy to let us base ourselves there. They were really pleased that we had so many Junior rowers there to row – think this might have helped.

Launching and recovery was easy and straightforward but close to the loch shore is quite shallow and rocky. The launch areas are shingle beaches so care needs to be taken with the skiff. Despite the wind, much of the loch was quite sheltered and it was a beautiful place to just row around.

A pay to park car park was very close by and ideal for other drivers to park and would recommend a visit. This would actually be a pretty good location for a regatta!

We made a donation to Sailing Club funds for use of their facilities on the day to show our appreciation for their help.

A great day enjoyed by all our members.
